Mobile court fines cosmetics shops Tk 70,000

Health Desk—June 08, 2017: The regional office of Bangladesh Standard and Testing Institution (BSTI) fined two cosmetics shops Taka 70,000 for manufacturing and marketing of substandard cosmetics goods that can cause serious harm for human body.

BSTI in association with Executive Magistrate Shafiqur Alam conducted a mobile court at Baneswar Bazar area under Puthiya Upazila in Rajshahi district on Wednesday afternoon.

The court found Jhilmil Store and Modern Cosmetics and Herbal guilty of manufacturing, possessing and selling of substandard cosmetic items violating BSTI rules and regulations.

The court also realised Taka 70,000 from the shop owners.

Altab Hossain, Director of BSTI, said the regional office has expedited its drives against the manufacturer of substandard and adulterated foods and other consumer items.

Such drives will continue in the days to come for the greater interest of the people, he added.
